Self Portraits II

1. The point is to use your eyes and your imagination, whether you want to use detail and abstraction to say something about an individual or about the beauty of the human body.

2. Think about your motivation and emotions: Blankly staring at the camera rarely gets good results. Be silly, don’t be afraid to over-act. The worst that can happen is that you fill up your memory card with useless photos; but you might also find yourself with a proper gold-nugget of a self portrait.

3. You can create an especially revealing self-portrait by adding personal memorabilia surrounding your mirrored image, such as photos of yourself at various stages of your life, or anything that tells the viewer about your interests. Besides a mirror, a window can sometimes offer a reflective surface for you to capture your own image.

I chose the top picture because the combination of his face and the plates make a very comical picture. It looks as if his head is being served on a plate. I chose the bottom picture because from this point of view it look as if the sea of cranberries go on and on and the man looks tiny compared to it.

I chose the top picture the way the smoke looks is really cool. The smoke not only is able to stand  on it's own but in a way it enhances the person in the picture also. I like the second picture because I've always seen these kinds of pictures and wanted to always try it myself. The picture is in a way asking a question. It's asking what's face is the subject really making?

I chose the top picture because those are string instruments and I play a string instrument so I can related to the girls also the picture looks very natural. It looks like they are just hanging out and talking nothing to posed our made up. The second picture is also super natural. It just looks like a couple walking in the tall grass together. They don't even notice the camera, just each other.

I want to shoot a group of friends just having fun. Either they can be talking our doing something I just want to be able to capture that natural feel like in the two pictures directly above this. I think it would be nice to have them outside, just sitting around talking and having a good time. I would want to be able to use the sun so I would want them to have the sun behind them and to make the shot successful I think I would have to be able to get everyone smiling and in the moment. They need pretend I'm not there and just be themselves.
